Brew your favorite tea in this beautifully hand crafted teapot made from clay found in the Yixing Chinese province. This unique teapot is sculpted to in the shape of a boat. The smaller size of the teapot is traditional of the Chinese culture where it is common to drink many small portions of tea to avoid over-steeping. Using this method, tea can be brewed quickly and with the assurance that it will be served without bitterness. Yixing ware has the unique ability to absorb the tea flavor with continued usage. The fired clay contains tiny air pockets which provide insulation and enhanced taste and aroma of fine tea. It is even said that after many years of use, you can brew tea just by adding boiling water to the teapot. Because of this absorbent nature, the tea pots work best when used exclusively with one type of tea. The different colors of the pot are achieved from pigments added into the clay before firing.
